"Out of date FBX" error when importing static mesh from Maya 2015

I’m getting the following error when doing a test import of a simple static mesh from Maya 2015:

"
Warning An out of date FBX has been detected.
Importing different versions of FBX files than the SDK version can cause undesirable results.

File Version: 7.4.0
SDK Version: 7.3.0
Warning Warning: No smoothing group information was found in this FBX scene. Please make sure to enable the ‘Export Smoothing Groups’ option in the FBX Exporter plug-in before exporting the file. Even for tools that don’t support smoothing groups, the FBX Exporter will generate appropriate smoothing data at export-time so that correct vertex normals can be inferred while importing.
"

Could you please tell me why I’m receiving this error and what it means? Also, how to prevent it.

It is possible that the error message is not completely true, I’ve gotten the same message because my FBX version was newer. Not older. Because you’re using Maya 2015 it’s likely you’re exporting with FBX 2014. In your FBX settings, at the bottom, you should be able to switch to FBX 2013 to get rid of one of the messages.

Regarding smoothing groups. It’s exactly like it says. In your FBX settings, set Export Smoothing Groups to on.

Great answers thank you very much. I did both of the things you recommended and imported without errors.

Would also like to add that based on the 4.2 patch notes this is going to be updated to FBX 2014.
