camera export

Hi,

When I try to export the camera from the Camera Sequencer (and into Maya), by right clicking on the camera track in the shot, and choosing export - I get the camera out, and into Maya, but there is no animation on the camera.

Is there a way of exporting the camera with it’s animation graph?

Any help gratefully received!

Can you try to select and right click on the camera you want to export rather than the camera cuts track or the shots track? If you have a track selected, it will try to export only the objects that are bound to that track. For example, something like this:

Hi Max,

Thanks for coming back to me.

This is really confusing, and I have tried clicking and then right clicking on just the camera Actor, and also on the component, and even selecting both and each time I try to export I just get a static camera with no keys

Is there anywhere I can find out how the fbx exporter is working in settings maybe ? - Or is it because I have a master sequence?

Finally - it seems that when I change settings in my camera (such as the film back), it doesn’t keep the changes when I go back to the Master Sequence, and then back into the camera. Have I locked the camera in some way? - and could this be part of the problem?

I did bring this sequence (migrated it) from another scene. Could this be part of the problem??

Any additional help gratefully received.

Best Regards,

Actually, there is a bug where if you have an object that is in a subscene of a master sequence (ie. a camera in a shot), the objects in those subscenes won’t be found at export time. We’ve fixed that for 4.15, but in the meantime, you’ll need to open up that shot on its own and then export it out. By open it up on its own, I mean you need to find it in the content browser and double click on that, it also won’t work if you open up the master sequence and double click on the shot to export the camera (which is what I think you’re doing).

Hi Max,

Huge thanks for your help - I’ve just got this working!

I have another camera question if you have time;

I’m using the post process within the camera to change the Exposure Bias, and Gain on a shot by shot basis, but it’s doesn’t hold on to the values. As soon as I exit the shot and go back in - the values that I ticked (and keyed) are no longer ticked. They go back to being greyed out. Same thing happens with the film back changes.

Any ideas? Thanks again in advance!

Possibly a bug, are these spawnable cameras or do the cameras exist in the level?

Hi Max,

These are spawnable cameras which exist only in the Master Sequence and not in the World Outliner.

Hi Max,
I there a way of ‘upgrading’ the cameras and making them into scene cameras (i.e. cameras that I can see in the world outliner, and not spawnable cameras).

Actually yes, if you right click on the camera, you’ll see “Convert to Possessable”. That will make it an actor in the current active level and then sequencer will possess it.
