Ambisonics in Unreal

Hi All,

I know that through the oculus audio plugin you can spatialize mono sources around your scene through HRTFs. I was wondering, however, if there is a way to incorporate ambisonic recordings into unreal? I want to bring in ambient sounds, recorded through ambisonics, into unreal. I assume I would create a sound source that stays attached to the player, but Is there ambisonic rendering abilities in Unreal? So that as the player moves their head the ambient sounds will change accordingly? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You!

Hey! I was actually perusing this site for the same thing! I’ve worked in Unity, and my guess is that for ambisonic recordings you would have sound emitters for each track and attach them to the camera, then adjust the emitters positions so the left track was to the left, right to the right, above would be above the camera etc.? I’d be interested to hear people weigh in on that as well. I could be terribly wrong.
