Epic Game Launcher crashes on Windows

We were unable to download content on Linux so a colleague tried Unreal Engine on Windows. He installed your standard build from https://launcher-public-service-prod06.ol.epicgames.com/launcher/api/installer/download/EpicGamesLauncherInstaller.msi

When starting the Epic Game launcher the first time after install, the launcher crashes each time:
