Broken .umap file and autosaves

For the last few months I’ve been working on a map, but somehow I broke it while working on it. When the map is loaded, all that happens is I get a message saying that the map appears to be an asset file. I tried loading old versions of the map from the Autosave folder, but these files wouldn’t load either. What can I do to fix this?

Did you work on it through a modeling software? In that case, you can rightclick on the file and there should be something called “Asset Actions” that lets you “Export” the file so you can use it again.

No, I never exported the file to another program. All the objects were placed using the UE4 editor, so exporting the file doesn’t work.
