"Failed to start PIE game instance"

As of the past hour or so, I cannot launch my level by seemingly any means. I tried restarting the client and restarting my system. This happens no matter what level I try, even when starting with a default.

When trying to launch in-client I get 2 simultaneous errors:

If I try to launch the game as stand-alone, I get a crash:

I also can’t simulate.

Hi rms0020,

  • What steps can I take to reproduce this error on my end?
  • Does this occur in a clean, blank project with no additional content or is it limited to one project?
  • Are you able to open any other maps or is it limited to one map?
  • Can you post your crash logs here by going to \Unreal Projects\PROJECTNAME\saved\logs?
