Search help

  • Simple searches use one or more words. Separate the words with spaces (cat dog) to search cat,dog or both. Separate the words with plus signs (cat +dog) to search for items that may contain cat but must contain dog.
  • You can further refine your search on the search results page, where you can search by keywords, author, topic. These can be combined with each other. Examples
    • cat dog --matches anything with cat,dog or both
    • cat +dog --searches for cat +dog where dog is a mandatory term
    • cat -dog -- searches for cat excluding any result containing dog
    • [cats] —will restrict your search to results with topic named "cats"
    • [cats] [dogs] —will restrict your search to results with both topics, "cats", and "dogs"

Mobile Preview (PIE) cannot launch in Portrait View

Good morning,

I noticed that the Mobile Preview (PIE) cannot launch in any of the portrait presets in the "Play In Standalone Game" section of the Editor Preferences. EDIT: The "Standalone Game" option (which uses SM5) also cannot launch in portrait. However, launching in "Play in New Editor Window" works correctly.

This unexpected behavior occurs only when running my 1440p monitor at 1080p (since the Editor does not yet feature scaling for High DPI monitors). When the monitor is set to its native 2560 x 1440p resolution, the Mobile Preview launches in its portrait mode correctly, the same as "Play in New Editor Window".

Thanks for your time and attention to this matter.

Kind regards, ~Adam Janz

Whoa! In 4.14.0, portrait mode is working for me for the iPhone 6 preset (750 x 1334) in Play in Standalone Game (when running my monitor at 1440p and 120% dpi scaling in Windows). Any bigger preset though, such as the iPhone 6+ preset, seems to default to a 4:3-ish window unless you're running at 100% dpi scaling in Windows. At any rate, this is an awesome surprise and a huge life-saver! Combined with the fantastic clarity of the new HighDPI mode, I have never enjoyed working inside of UE4 more!!! :-)

Glad to hear it is working to your liking. As I've posted above, this is still in que to be worked on so it may ultimately be resolved for other resolutions as well.

That's great to hear, Steve! Thanks for the link. Yes, it certainly would be nice to have it working in other resolutions also for testing purposes, so I'm glad that the issue has been noted. Have a great evening!
