Frame Rate of Imported Animations?

Greetings. I couldn’t find it within the the FBX Animation Pipeline, and I was wondering what the target frame rate should be when I’m animating my models in Maya, for use within the Engine? Is it something that’s not bound by the engine, and should be agreed upon beforehand? If that’s the case, which one is more the industry standard for games? 24, 25, or 30 fps?

Thanks for your time.

I think 30 fps is pretty much the standard for authoring game animation.

Good luck!

I had the same question, and I see an option to use the framerate of what was used in the 3d editor so you should be able to use any frame rate you want but Unreal’s default is 30.

However, for walk cycles, you would break that down into 15 frames for each side of your work, The problem with that is, that you then want to split those up and you can’t evenly break down 15 in half.

If it was 24, you can go 12 for each cycle and then 6 frames for each pass in between.

Do some professionals out there know how this is usually tackled? 30 is fine for not repeating animations, but for walk and run cycles should I stick to something that can be evenly broke up? I’m sure it would work fine since that is what the option seems to imply but I haven’t got to test this out and have only been importing at 30 so far.
