HLOD clusters not saving

HLOD clusters are not saving. I generate them for all my sub levels… hit save all… and if i unload and reload the levels the hlods are gone… this is without any proxy meshes generated yet.

HI Kurylo,

With my time working with HLOD’s I’ve not run into this issue and I use them often. Do you have any steps to reproduce the issue? You seem to run into a lot of project-specific issues or extreme cases that aren’t reproducible on a small scale or quick test, so if you have any steps to reproduce please include them when you make bug reports. We don’t have large amounts of time to dedicate to a single post and endless testing to see if we can possibly reproduce the issue. Any information to help is always appreciated.

Information like:

  • HLOD settings used
  • Numbers meshes being used for the scene for the HLODs
  • If you’re using sub-levels, and number of sub-levels, or if it’s a single level (which I know with your project you do use Sub-levels, just worth noting)

If you load and reload the level the HLODs are gone because they were not generated.

Thanks!

Tim

Hey Tim,

The information I can currently tell you is i beleive they may have used to save… not sure exactly(could be mistaken on that), but now they dont. If i generate the proxy meshes immediately after i generate the clusters and save after that everything seems to save fine. Its just clusters if done alone wont save.

Aside from that… the scene does have some odd things since i took a map from another project and added it as a sublevel… this map had its own terrain and foliage. Some levels use blueprints for thigns like staircases and railings…

Not quite sure what to add in terms of special stuff outside of normal static meshes… there are like 10 sub levels and some do get complex. There are 2 sets of HLOD settings…

I can get screenshots of the HLOD settings later.

I started seeing if I could get this one yesterday with the Infinity Blade Grasslands content since I know it has a lot of meshes. I split them up into separate levels but didn’t notice anything not saving for me. Took a while to generate all the Proxy meshes, as expected.

There was a change between 4.14 and 4.13 though with how Generate Clusters and the Proxy meshes are created. In 4.13 they would be a temporary saved asset with an HLOD folder, whereas in 4.14 you no longer get that folder, but instead just a selection of meshes that will be the HLOD once it’s generated. There is now a warning that says “HLOD Clusters need to be rebuilt!”. I didn’t get them not to show up when I restarted a level after saving, though. It is likely there could be something that comes up with more complex levels, but it’s possibly an edge case that would be difficult and time consuming to reproduce.
