Bounce light goes through the wall.

Hi,

I have a problem with Lightmass, it seems that at one specific point it ignores the walls and gives bounce light where there is absolutely no light that could result an effect like that.

As you can see on the images, the washing machine has yellowish bounce light. The only source I can think of is the floor in the living room. I even placed a BSP into the wall to stop it from bleeding. I baked on production quality.

I have to submit the project to the client soon, so it would be really great if somebody could assist me on this issue.

Thanks!

Nobody? Quite worrying issue, very visible and I still couldn’t figure out a solution.

Something you might try is to lower the indirect lighting smoothness, in my experience the default value led to some significant bleed in tests I have done. The trade off is you can get some less smooth indirect lighting, but you have to tune to taste.

Hi!

Turn off “Compress Lightmaps”!! That can cause unwanted artifacts!!
I would not set environment intensity higher than 1 and the same goes for diffuse boost!!
Also volume light sample placement… rather change the Static Lighting Level Scale if you want a more detalied bake…

Hope it will help!
Good luck!!

Hi Makigirl!

Unfortunately none of these help. Compress lightmaps is off, level scale is usually around 0.5 - 0.7 (depending on what is feasible), this also increases the light sample density. Environment intensity is on default, diffuse boost is probably around 2 but that’s good to have because it improves quality a lot with the extra saturation in the indirect lighting.

But anyways, thanks for trying to help me!

Hi!

Another idea: are you sure your normals are ok?

I know it’s been a while but I ran into a similar problem…
…and the solution for me was to disable Use MikkTSpace…
