Search help

  • Simple searches use one or more words. Separate the words with spaces (cat dog) to search cat,dog or both. Separate the words with plus signs (cat +dog) to search for items that may contain cat but must contain dog.
  • You can further refine your search on the search results page, where you can search by keywords, author, topic. These can be combined with each other. Examples
    • cat dog --matches anything with cat,dog or both
    • cat +dog --searches for cat +dog where dog is a mandatory term
    • cat -dog -- searches for cat excluding any result containing dog
    • [cats] —will restrict your search to results with topic named "cats"
    • [cats] [dogs] —will restrict your search to results with both topics, "cats", and "dogs"

Unreal freezes when I click a mesh to drag into a project

Hi - I'm new to Unreal, and recently downloaded UE4. After doing tutorials and feeling comfortable with the engine, I purchased the Buddhist Monastery Environment, for a game project I'm trying to develop; however when I click on any of the meshes from that pack, my PC freezes. I cannot even click out into another program / app. I've left my PC on overnight, and it's just stuck on the same part.

I have been able to drag in meshes from the stater pack with no issue at all - but every time I try one from the pack I purchased, it locks up. On a few occasions, my system has actually shut off.

To this point, I've set my graphics card to optimized performance settings, but I'm not sure where to go next. Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated. I've tried using the assets in a blank project running ver 4.12, 4.13, and 4.14 all with the same results,

I ran dxdiag and attached it if anyone has input, along with a few screenshots of my graphics card settings

Thanks in advance for your time & assistance! alt text

Hi Mista Wicket,

We have tested the Content on a Windows 7 machine and were not able to reproduce this behavior, although, be advised there is not a UE4.14 version of this asset at this time, which may be causing the issue. We will also be testing this on a system more similar to yours but in the meantime, please verify that you are running the 4.12 version in UE4.12, the 4.13 version in UE4.13 etc.

Also, are you experiencing this in any of the UE4 blank templates with starter content? If you have not already, please try recreating the issue with these assets. If you are able to reproduce the issue, please provide repro steps so we can recreate the issue on our end.

Thanks,

Steve H.

Hi Mista Wicket,

Since we have not heard back from you in a while, we are marking this post "resolved" for tracking purposes. However, if you are still experiencing freezes when clicking a mesh to drag into a project, please respond with the requested information and we will continue to investigate.

Thanks,

Steve H.

I see the exact same behavior in 1,14. I run a nvidia card. As soon as I drag assets into the level upon first time use, unreal freezes for 10 seconds and unfreezes again.

If I use the assets a second time in the same level, I see experience no problems.

Hi weberl,

Are you referring to the Buddhist Monastery assets specifically, or any assets. Does this occur with a Blank Blueprint project with Starter Content? Please describe a specific way to reproduce this on our end and I will test. Also, please include your dxdiag.

Thanks,

Steve H.
