Search help

  • Simple searches use one or more words. Separate the words with spaces (cat dog) to search cat,dog or both. Separate the words with plus signs (cat +dog) to search for items that may contain cat but must contain dog.
  • You can further refine your search on the search results page, where you can search by keywords, author, topic. These can be combined with each other. Examples
    • cat dog --matches anything with cat,dog or both
    • cat +dog --searches for cat +dog where dog is a mandatory term
    • cat -dog -- searches for cat excluding any result containing dog
    • [cats] —will restrict your search to results with topic named "cats"
    • [cats] [dogs] —will restrict your search to results with both topics, "cats", and "dogs"

Tooltips and low gpu usage?

Fresh install of 4.14.0 on a desktop (no gpu switching) is causing low gpu usage and fps drops when a tooltip pops up.

Hello Root4me,

I have a few questions to ask to gather some more information about this issue.

  1. What GPU are you using?

  2. What driver version are you using and what other drivers have you tried, if any?

  3. What version of Windows are you using?

  4. Have you tried disabling Nvidia GeForce Experience and using a different program to monitor the framerate? We've had a few issues recently that have been surrounding this program so it would be useful to know if it could be related to this as well.

  5. Have you tried this in 4.13 or any other versions of the editor? What were the results?

Due to the nature of this, I wonder if it could be related to the settings that cause the editor to lower its usage when the editor is in the background, even though it's only CPU. It shouldn't be doing this with tooltips, but it would be worth a try to test. Please open the Editor Preferences window and disable "Use Less CPU when in Background" option in General > Miscellaneous > Performance.

We haven't heard from you in a while, Root4me. Are you still experiencing this issue? If so, could you provide the information I requested in my previous comment? In the meantime, I'll be marking this issue as resolved for tracking purposes.

Hey Matthew,
I tried that but the framerate still drops when a tooltip is shown.
Widget ingame are also consuming a good chunk for the perfs.

Any other suggestion ?

Hello Genova, as this is an old post and there have been quite a few things related to performance recently, could you create your own post and provide as much information as you can? This would include what kind of problems you're seeing as well as all of the information I originally requested from Root4me.
