Physics not accurate enough for a chain?

I’m trying to build a chain and have it dongle around.
When it’s normal size it randomly breaks as you can see in this clip:

When I scale it up very much it becomes stable, but it’s way too big then of course.
Any idea what I could do to make this reliable?

Options like CCD don’t seem to change anything.

From what I see it looks like each chain ring is its own asset with a hollow collision?

You may consider creating a Physics Asset on a skeletal mesh where each bone is skinned to each ring, instead.
