Blend Space Backward Strafe Oddities

When trying to create a blend space for backward + directional movement I’m seeing some very odd results. The same can be seen between the blend space nodes in the Animation Starter Pack.

I have forward, left, right, backward movement animations. Is there a better way to blend between a direction and backward? Do I need more animations to blend between?

I’m still fairly new to animations but I pretty certain you need 4 more animations (45/-45/135/-135 deg) to make it work.

One maybe workaround is you could get your character to turn if you’re moving forward/backward and trying to strafe. Then strafe if they are not moving forward / backward.

Hope this helps, Tom.

You’re right, after a few more hours of searching I found this video with information how to create these animations from the basic 0,90,-90,180 animations within unreal.

That’s pretty cool, I didn’t know about that part. Now I need to go and fix my own project. ^^

Thank you so much for your help.
