Why won't my 40MB FBX import?

I have an i7 920 @ 3.8 GHz and a 600ish MB/s read/write SSD.

This mesh has been importing for the past 25 minutes with the editor completely frozen, it just says “building static mesh”. It’s a very basic room that I modeled. It loads in around two seconds in other programs, but in UE4 it just freezes the editor. I checked the task manager and the editor has been stuck at 25% cpu usage, 2606656K ram usage for 25 minutes. It hasn’t budged from those numbers even once.

It just says building static mesh.

Anything I can do? I triangulated it before I exported if that helps.

edit: been 50 minutes now, still building static mesh…

There was a post about similar issue and it ended up being a problem with the model itself, as far as i can remember. Have you tried importing another mesh of the same size? Also try importing without triangulating and see if it changes anything.

i did every thing required as it said in the help section but still stuck in the same area the size of the building is 44 mb
i tried another simple box it worked but it was only 18 kb
so any suggestion for me and for him?!?!?
