Editor crashing specific to GTX 660?

I know it’s not the same card or a preferable solution but if it’s a matter of getting it to run it might do the trick for now.

We’ve been having issues with using UE4 crashing after a few minutes of using it.

We’ve tried everything from reformatting the PC to different builds of UE4, nothing has worked but we have a theory if Epic could confirm / deny / investigate that would be great!

In our office we have 2 identical computers except the one that can’t run UE4 has a GTX 660 and the other that does work has a GTX 670.
Initially we thought nothing of this, but when we were searching AnswerHub for similar crash reports we came across the same crash we were getting a few times, all of the crashes we found had the same GTX 660 graphics card.

We are running out of options as we need this PC to run UE4, could anybody at Epic let us know if this is a possible cause or not?

We haven’t Diselhead but I believe this is a different error all together, this person crashes when he enters game mode, ours will just crash after a few minutes, nothing specific we are doing forces a crash.

Hi ,

Have you tried using the 670 card in the PC that the 660 is in? If you do not get a crash with the 670 we can at least limit it to a card specific problem. Thank you!

Hi , apologies, very busy here.

Yes we tried a video card taken out of the exact same computer spec and it worked, the issue is the GTX 660. We have had no further investigations we have been forced to buy a new card due to time constraints.

What drivers were you using on the 660 when it was crashing?

We’ve tried multiple drivers, including the most recent from the Nvidia website.
