Search help

  • Simple searches use one or more words. Separate the words with spaces (cat dog) to search cat,dog or both. Separate the words with plus signs (cat +dog) to search for items that may contain cat but must contain dog.
  • You can further refine your search on the search results page, where you can search by keywords, author, topic. These can be combined with each other. Examples
    • cat dog --matches anything with cat,dog or both
    • cat +dog --searches for cat +dog where dog is a mandatory term
    • cat -dog -- searches for cat excluding any result containing dog
    • [cats] —will restrict your search to results with topic named "cats"
    • [cats] [dogs] —will restrict your search to results with both topics, "cats", and "dogs"

Mannequin physics asset broken

Started rebuilding a project in 4.14.1 that uses third person template as a base. Went to add rag doll on death (mesh has ragoll set and simulate physics is activated via blueprint) and the character would just stand there. Tore through settings and realized it wasn't showing a physics asset set. Tried to force the asset and it didn't change anything. Checked the skeletal mesh and seen it was also missing from there. Set it and still nothing. So I checked the physics asset itself and it has nothing. Seems like the default physics asset is broken.

Started an entirely new project using 4.14 and checked the asset and its broken out the box. My version of UE4 came from the launcher.

Including an image of a comparison between same file 4.14 vs 4.13. alt text

Hi CorruptMind,

I just tested this in 4.14.1 & 2 but I couldn't get your results. The default SK_Mannequin_PhysicsAsset shows as having 19 bodies and 18 constraints. I was able to ragdoll the character by adding the SetSimulatePhyiscs in blueprint then setting the CollisionEnabled on the ThirdPersonCharacters mesh to Query and Physics. Which is the standard steps to create a ragdoll character from the default template project.

Could you try creating a new 3rd Person template project just to make sure something didn't get corrupted and checking it there?

I hate when things like this happen. I tested it twice when I made the original report and both projects showed it as failed. Create a new one (tested twice to be sure) now and its correct. I reopen one of the previous projects I made when making the bug report and the asset is bad. Maybe it corrupted when generating the projects on that day, I have restarted my system since then. Sorry for wasting your time, thank you for the reply.

No problem. I'm glad it's working for you now.

Very glad to have found this thread! I had the same issue, fixed by generating a new project.

On the first generation, I may not have left it set to "High quality/desktop" and "include starter content"
