Search help

  • Simple searches use one or more words. Separate the words with spaces (cat dog) to search cat,dog or both. Separate the words with plus signs (cat +dog) to search for items that may contain cat but must contain dog.
  • You can further refine your search on the search results page, where you can search by keywords, author, topic. These can be combined with each other. Examples
    • cat dog --matches anything with cat,dog or both
    • cat +dog --searches for cat +dog where dog is a mandatory term
    • cat -dog -- searches for cat excluding any result containing dog
    • [cats] —will restrict your search to results with topic named "cats"
    • [cats] [dogs] —will restrict your search to results with both topics, "cats", and "dogs"

The same problem with 4.14. Works fine in 4.13 too. Tried to export with different params — no luck

Hey DJo,

We've had difficulties reproducing this internally. Would you mind providing an FBX and the associated APX file to that I can confirm that this breaks in 4.14.

Hey there, I also tried in the 4.15 preview 4 and the problem remain. I went to the most simple way to minimize the possibility of having problems, and I still have the same problem. I made a simple cylinder in 3ds max 2017, give it 1 bone, skinned it, applied the apex clothing and started drawing my max distances, exported both the mesh and the physx file. Once applied in the engine, it just breaks and does weird stuff.

Here is a video showing you step by step, ending up with the problem. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pC2r3tbr5Sk&feature=youtu.be

Thank you for the info DJoExe,

I did a bit of digging and found that this issue has been reported: https://issues.unrealengine.com/issue/UE-40007

As stated in the public notes "There is a back-compat issue with the new PhysX 3.4 upgrade in 4.14. All of the bone bind poses and bone actor transforms have their upper 3x3 (the orientation components) transposed in their transform matrices which causes a rotation issue. The solution for this is to use the ClothingTool or DCC plugins that match this version (the 3.4 versions) as they will not exhibit this problem. The updated ClothingTool and DCC plugins should now be available from Nvidia."

According to this user using the latest version of the physX plugin should solve the issue.

Let me know if that helps!

Hey there, I tried to use the latest version of the pluggin, but as it is mentionned in the Repport Issue, the latest DCC Plugin version crashes 3ds Max as soon as yu apply the Apex Clothing modifier on your mesh, it just freeze. I tried the latest DCC Plugin in 3ds max 2015,2016 and 2017 without succes, all of them crash.

I know the ticket is marked as "Won't Fix" but it would be more accurate to say "Can't Fix". The reason is this issue lies with Nvidia's plugin not being compatible with 3dsMax. That is something we can't fix so the best course of action would be to contact Nvidia support and inform them that the plugin crashes 3dsMax.

For now you may have to use a different application that supports the latest plugin.
