Hidden Levels Rebuilding in 4.14

We noticed that hidden levels have their lighting rebuilt in 4.14… is this a bug, or was the ability to have hidden levels untouched removed in this version? If it was removed intentionally, could we have this back please? Being able to separate things in levels and only build a portion of it at a time is very helpful.

Hi LisMM,

I’ve submitted a ticket for this to be investigated that you can track the status here: Unreal Engine Issues and Bug Tracker (UE-40454)

Thank you!

Tim

Thank you Tim!

Hey guys,

I’ve just encountered this bug and I wanted to say it breaks our workflow big time. We work in a big architectural studio, preparing VR sims, and we usually test different options with a static base geometry. This bug, being in-engine since January (!) forces us to use older engine versions just for this very singular reason.

I cannot express further how fundamental this is to use UE4 as design tool in architecture.
We’d very much like to use the newest features of Epic’s awesome toolkit, but this is a show-stopper for us.

Any info on potential fix or how can we fix it in source manually?

Best,
MBZ

Hint: turning on Lighting Scenario feature for mentioned levels fixes the bug but probably introduces other undesired behaviors (light sources in sub-level will probaly affect only one given level).

I am going to try this today and see what happens… I was just on here again to see if there were any updates to this bug since it is a killer to our workflow as well.

Hi Tim! Could you please let us know what is going on with this? We keep hopefully waiting for a fix in the next version, but see that the ETA has now been moved out all the way to 4.19…
