Rocket Suggestions

Hi Everyone,

So after playing with Rocket for a day i have below suggestions.

  1. In UDK I use Shift + N to deselect actors. It would be great to have this feature in Rocket.

  2. When importing Textures, it would be nice to have a basic GUI to change the Compression, LOD Group etc because I usually import multiple textures such as Diffuse, Spec, Normals etc. So it would be nice to change the compression on the fly while importing.

  3. Once we create a folder in Content Browser we cant rename it. So a rename option would be nice just in case we had a typo or something.

  4. BSP Mesh is missing “Add Material” option in its right click menu.

  5. Upon closing Content Browser, it removes the filter (What i typed in the search field).

  6. In UDK, we could change Navigation camera speed by Right Click + Mouse Wheel Scroll Up/Down. Its really helpful when working with Landscapes.

Theres one more thing but not sure if its a bug or a limitation.

Some tabs are not dockable with others. Eg: Am unable to dock Blueprint editor to the very bottom of Rocket. I dont know if its a limitation.

To answer what is left:

2 - I created a feature request for this.

3 - This is currently a known issue and we are working on a fix. This is because Rocket, when you create a new folder, actually creates a new folder on your drive. In UE3 these “folders” were part of the editor. This design change makes it easier to move assets around among other things, but renaming is problematic. The work around is to locate the folder in your Window’s browser and rename it. You will need to restart the editor after renaming.

Theres one more thing. As i mentioned, am unable to dock Blueprint editor to the bottom side of rocket. I can dock other tabs without issues but not Blueprint editor. Am also unable to dock some tabs together. For Example i cant dock Blueprint editor and Tools together.

That is because of the difference between the editor versus sub-editors. The editor tabs dock within their respective editor window.

For example, the Blueprints sub-editors have toolbar tabs, as does the editor,. These are very different in functionality, so they can only be docked with their own category. It would be too easy to lose track of what all the tabs went to, so now they are window “context sensitive”.

6: This still works. Hold down the right mouse button to activate the camera, scroll up or down to change speeds :slight_smile:
