Will my Mac be able to run UE4?

Hi there,

I’m looking to do a course on udemy learning how to create and programme using the unreal engine, it says the requirements are a ‘64-bit Mac or PC capable of running unreal engine 4’ before enrolling I just wanted to check my Mac fits the requirements. As well, apparently you need ‘NVIDIA GeForce 470 GTX’ graphics card or better, if so, does my Intel Iris Pro 1536 fit this? I have attached the about overview of my Mac, I hope this helps - let me know if I need to provide any other information.

Any advice is much appreciated!

Thank you in advance !

I don’t see any attachment on your post at all, so all we know is that you have an iMac.

I have been running Unreal Engine just fine on a 2012 Macbook Pro and 2013 Mac Pro. If your iMac is anything close to those, then it should be just fine.

You can easily just install it and try running it and see how it goes. Make sure you are on at least El Capitan (preferably Sierra) and that you have run the latest OS updates first.

Also, technically if all you want to do is run UE4, you could install Windows through Bootcamp and run UE4 in Windows on your iMac. Not suggesting it, just pointing out that it’s doable.

Sorry my browser was glitching out when I initially posted this, hopefully now the attachment is on there. The course I’ll be doing will be teaching me to creating and designing game using UE4, so will I be able to test out this before enrolling?

I have it on Bootcamp and also on the Mac OS. It runs better on Bootcamp for me.

Crashes sometimes on the Mac OS.

The answer is YES, your iMac should run UE4 just fine. Thanks for posting your specs.

Ah great news cheers man!

Oh okay good to know. Thanks for commenting!
