Search help

  • Simple searches use one or more words. Separate the words with spaces (cat dog) to search cat,dog or both. Separate the words with plus signs (cat +dog) to search for items that may contain cat but must contain dog.
  • You can further refine your search on the search results page, where you can search by keywords, author, topic. These can be combined with each other. Examples
    • cat dog --matches anything with cat,dog or both
    • cat +dog --searches for cat +dog where dog is a mandatory term
    • cat -dog -- searches for cat excluding any result containing dog
    • [cats] —will restrict your search to results with topic named "cats"
    • [cats] [dogs] —will restrict your search to results with both topics, "cats", and "dogs"

Editor crash files not being generated (OS X)

In an effort to make my crash reports more useful I've been looking for specific .log and .crash files to attach. I've been experiencing some kill-requiring hangs; I don't expect those events to generate logs, but would the last written log file would be useful in that case?

Regarding the more graceful editor crash events, where the editor seems to detect an exception and initiate a quit:

  1. How do I determine which .log files are useful? Should I be looking for specific output, e.g., "exception", or should I just include the most recently written .log file?

  2. Crash files aren't being generated on my machine in ~/Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports. Am I looking for the wrong type of file?

Hey piinecone,

You can post the most recent log from ~/Library/Logs/Unreal Engine/(project name)Editor/ and it will contain a crash log. Thanks!
