[Request] Remove Source Art Feature

Would it be possible to get a “Remove Source Art” button or feature?

I’d like to remove the source TGA/FBX/WAV files from inside each package, similar to what you did with your standard UDK packages for example, which cannot be exported by right-clicking them → Export.

The reason why is because being able to remove source art would allow us to:

1.) lower the size of packages a lot.

2.) use sound and texture libraries which forbid you from sharing the purchased content in source format (which you’d do because you can export it from the content browser).

3.) distribute content packages without also giving away your uncompressed source content

The above things are important for creating tutorials and example content. I’d like to create example content, but this means giving away source files which I may not have a license to, and require more bandwidth and storage space.

Excellent point, Sjoerd. I have added a TTP to address this issue. Depending on how we decide to package content for redistribution, this process may be automatic. If not, there may be a commandlet or other interactive way to strip source content in the editor.

Is this command now available in UE 4.26.1? Our Projectfolder is 30gigs in size just because the source art of textures is stored with it. Not everybody in this project has this amount of storage available and pushing so much data to git and pulling is just pain.

Best regards
