Rename File Error

,Created new “Top Down” Project. tried renaming “topdownbp” file in the content browser. Got an error report saying “Missing Files”. closed out, found “topdownbp” file still exsisting with character file in it. it would not delete and character file did not exsist in the new renamed file. i went into my doccuments and to the project file and deleted the folder caused wierd things to happen in game. this bug is easy to duplicate.

Hey Mdarius99-

There are a number of blueprints available in a new project. Are you referring to the TopDown Character, Controller, GameMode, or Overview blueprint? Also, what engine version are you working in? When I try to rename these blueprints in a new 4.14.3 project they’re able to update as expected. If you’re able to reproduce the issue, please let me know what steps you’re taking or what I’ve done differently in my test.

I created a “top down” project with starter content. i went to the content browser, clicked “show or hide the sources panel”. i went to the folder “topdownBP”, renamed it, came up with an error missing filename. character could not be deleted, (it couldn’t be deleted before you did all this). but if you then click the “content” tab in the content browser the “TopDownBp” Folder is still there. if you click on it it just keeps opening the same thing and you have to click the back button the same amount of times to get back.

Hey Mdarius99-

Thank you for the clarification. I your post as you trying to rename a file in the project rather than a folder. I have reproduced this issue and logged a report for it here Unreal Engine Issues and Bug Tracker (UE-40735) . You can track the report’s status as the issue is reviewed by our development staff. Please be aware that this issue may not be prioritized or fixed soon.

Cheers
