Why is UE4 importing singular FBX multi mesh skeletal mesh as multiple assets?

Hi there.

Im trying to import a character made of multiple meshes as one single fbx skeletal mesh, but every time I do, UE4 imports each mesh as a seperate asset.

Im Selecting my objects which are bound to a simple quick skeleton to for testing purposes and the corespoding skeleton and making sure I export the selection and the setting are all default.

I know Its possible to have a singular skeletal mesh made from multiple imported meshes. I was able to do it with my last character. I followed the same process and he imported without issue, as one whole skeletal mesh. The cape, eyes and body where all seperate meshes before exporting them as an FBX.

I seen some answers stating that the object has to be one singular object to import as one whole skeletal mesh but this contradicts the UE4 documentation and my own experience. Its also not very practical when it comes to rigging and animation.

Does anyone have any idea whats happened and how I could resolve this?

Thanks.

did you find a solution?
