Memory leaks on 4.14.3

Pretty much have to restart the editor at least 5 times a day while working, due to constant memory leaks that freeze the editor. I’m often required to switch over to Photoshop, Blender or an audio editor to create resources, and often if I do this and switch back, it’s frozen and consuming a buttload of memory. I have 16GB of RAM and an i7 6700k so I really don’t think this should be an issue. Is there a fix for this?

The only other program I’ve been using simultaneously with UE is my browser, but this issue has yet to manifest itself on my system. I’m by no means an expert, but maybe with a little extra info someone more well informed could help you

What OS are you running and how complex is your level? Are there lot’s of blueprints? Actors? Big textures? Post processing and whatnot?

Can you share a screenshot of your taskmanaer in the Performance view? I’m really wondering how the resources are used when you have so much open. I’m sure Photoshop is the biggest culprit.

Hi Aethryx,

Please send along some info about your system, specifically the dxdiag info.

Also, can you check this list (including both pages) to see if any of the known issues might match up to your circumstances?

Hi Aethryx,

We have not heard back from you in a few days, so we are marking this post as Resolved for tracking purposes. If you are still experiencing the issue you reported, please respond to this message with additional information and we will follow up.

Lots of questions go unanswered for a long time and never get “resolved for tracking purposes”. What gives?

Hi Flapjack99,

This typically occurs with AH posts in the Bug Reports and Packaging & Deployment sections. There is a system for assigning Bug Report issues to support techs. If it is assigned to one of us and remains “unresolved”, it stays on our to-do list. We have a policy that, if something is not responded to, then we need to resolve it to remove it from the to-do list. This way, it remains assigned to us in case that person or somebody else responds.
