Not shure if its bug, but build lighting is stuck at 0% for 14 hours straight. I even removed any source of lighting, lighmass importance, sky sphere, global post proccessing… evrything and i still can not build lighting. Happened before on new project but i didnt care since it was a test. Now i need it to work. Its a simple map with simple squares, no more that 25 objects on map.
On other project build lighting works
using Unreal engine 4.2.0 on Mac
Any idea how to build lighting? (some cache to delete? edit a file? something?)
cache should be at ~/Library/Application Support/Epic/UnrealEngine/4.2/Saved/Swarm, you could certainly try deleting it. If that doesn’t help, is there any chance you could send us this map to investigate? Thanks.
We haven’t heard back from you in a while, so I am marking this post resolved for tracking purposes. If you are still experiencing this issue after updating to 4.2.1, please let us know. Thanks!
Still having same problem even with 4.2.1. problem with sending map is that is not up to me to send map or any part of it. Anyone knows how can you stuck build lighting? maybe i did that accidently
If this issue is only happening in one project, we need to be able to take a look at it to see what might be causing issue. There isn’t any setting that should be causing your build lighting to become stuck. Does this same project work on other systems without problems?
Boss agree to look with client for details about sending map to you. Is there a way to contact you with private message? (link to download map) in case client allows sending map to you.
Please have your boss review Section 8 of EULA before submitting any sensitive material to Epic:
If you decide to go ahead, we’d be happy to take a look and see if we can find cause of problem. Otherwise, I would suggest starting a new project and adding assets individually until problem occurs again. That might help us narrow it down to a problem asset.
It doesnt occur in all project. I got stuck before with lighting only once. this is second time. First time lighting stuck at 0% was a new project, and i was learning so i added some nodes in blueprint, but no assets were added. Its rare and almost random when lighing will be stuck. I worked on current project for 3 month without any problem with lighting, and just like that it wont build lighting.
It only happens once, or consistently? Are you ever able to build lighting, now, in project you’re working on? After closing and reopening editor, it still won’t build?
When lighting stuck there is no way to rebuild it, ever. I restarted engine. i restarted mac, i deleted Swarm, all lighting all actors, everything. Still wont build. Its a week now, constant tries and fails.
i can upload you map, where lighting wont build. If you can give me where to upload it, since client doesnt want to share assets with everybody.
I found a solution to this problem. Create a new project lets call it “Solved”, copy all assets from old project to “Solved” project. Edit DefaulEngine.ini to load new project in [URL] (since we copied all .uassets from previous version, ini file contains url to older versio on game) and lighting builded, and all my blueprints are there and objects are on their posistions. So its not up to any of my assets, its engine related. Check previous comment about map if you guys need to check is evrything working propertly.
Glad you were able to get it all placed into a new project without any problems! It sounds like this was a project specific error, so we’ll close this post for now. Please let us know if this occurs again inside your new project, and we can investigate map at that time. Best of luck with project!
I’ve got same problem. I was working on a map for several days. Lighting built without a problem every time in about 60 seconds. Then suddenly it just stopped. Every time I try now it is just stuck at 0%. If I open swam, it shows processing mappings at 0.27% and there it sits forever with bars just gradually moving along. I can leave it for hours and it does nothing. It is just this map. If I start a new map then it works fine again. problem started after I did some sculpting with landscape and then added some tree SM’s from KiteDemo pack.
