How to set up 'Onward' style movement for Vive?

Ok so I’m probably going to get a lot of heat for this question but I feel its very important to ask. I cant find help on this topic any where on the web even though many games have this feature present. I have no experience in Bps or coding, but I do want to learn. I would appreciate it if anyone has a helpful, educated answer on this. Thank you.

I, too, I’ll bet on this issue for 2 weeks. I know for sure that this is possible but I can not yet realize.
If somebody know how, please mail me - nuke_soldier@mail.ru

I give a hint - first you move the character, then Reset Orientation and Position in HMD

I went to fasten bone to the character’s hands Motion controllers

I appreciate your faith in me accomplishing this, but i dont know where id start. Where would i add that bp to? And in what order and i linking thr components. I got the controllers set up in my space. Just dont know how to add onward movement.

Hello! I am a nooby VR developer aswell and been tackling this issue for a while. Can you please tell me how you did it or point me in the right direction?

Bump.

Is there really no person that can help me with my problem.

For whatever reason it seems the guys working on UE4 never even considered that some people want direct non-teleporting movement in VR. The best I can find is a plugin, but I’d rather not build a game based on a 3rd party plugin.

There exist node like motion controller thumbstick x,y, so you can make 2d vector, get polar angle of this vector. Then get your camera forward vector and rotate it to this angle. Also, you can use length of 2d vector as speed, further → fast.

i appreciate your answer greatly. Do you have a blueprint example or how i would go about setting up this node? Have you successfully attempted this?

I didn’t, but it has to work. I think there shouldn’t be something hard, so just try this. Sorry, I have no time to help you to implement this. Search and learn.
