Can't import files into content browser

I just finished installing UE4. I’m following along with the “2D Sidescroller With Blueprints” tutorial on Unreal Engine’s YouTube channel. I downloaded the texture files as instructed in the video, & I know I have them because I can find them in my file manager. However, when I try to drag and drop them into my content browser, my cursor shifts to the “import” icon for about a half second, then the “not allowed” icon (circle with a strike through it). I try to import the files, but it won’t let me.

I tried right clicking in the content browser, clicking “Import to Game/Textures…”, then my file manager comes up, but somehow, the texture files aren’t in my downloads folder? I am really very confused. I don’t know if this is a bug, or if I messed up somehow? I’ve only had UE4 for maybe almost half an hour now.

Any help is much appreciated!

I didn’t extract the files. I found the files in my file manager, selected the folder, “Extract all”, now they are showing up in UE4. I’ll go out on a limb here and say “noob mistake”. Hehe.

BTW the “How to import using the import button” tutorial in the UE4 documentation helped me.
