[Request] Epic assets included in next build

Would it be too much trouble for epic to include a small set of assets in the next build that cover things like DX11 and a perfect(i say perfect, but just something that’s made correct for usage with DX11 materials) mesh, multilayer material, skeletal mesh with anims, LOD mesh (a tree or something) etc, just something out of the box we can look at, use as placeholders, see how its done and work from that?

I’m not expecting whole kits like UDK offers, but i found that my self, i could “reverse engineer” UDK assets and apply it to my own stuff, and do this much easier than looking at tutorials and trying to copy them.

or you know, the elemental demo which ever cool with you guys wink wink

Thanks very much

I agree with this. I also request Epic to include some assets with Rocket. Just basic stuffs.

I’d rather like to see examples of day/night lightning, like in UDK templates

And there was very interesting demonstration in description for Elemental demo, about eye adaptation in darkness (when windows closed).
I think it will be very useful for understanding post process functionality.

I dont think Epic will release Elemental demo to us. But it would be great if they make it available only for current Rocket/UE4 Users. What i meant is they can remove it from the public UE4 UDK.

Yea, we have signed the NDA so we have to remove it afterwards anyway.

I really don’t ask for Elemental demo, it’s almost clear for me.
(Maybe excluding some features like flowing lava, but I have few ideas about how it was created)

But that eye adaptation feature is very cool, and I hope to see some simple example of it.

Hi everybody,

We will be releasing an Effects Demolet that will better explore eye adaptation and particle effects will be in a future build of Rocket. That should allow you to break-down and learn from a lot of lighting assets. It will be somewhat equivalent to what was featured rendering-wise in the Elemental demo.

I saw the preview images. The snow effect is totally cool!!

Thank you Alexander!

Hi Marc,

Thank you for your feedback. Have you had a chance to explore the assets of the Demolets and Sample games? They should have a lot for you to learn from. They feature assets including a skeletal mesh with animations, LOD meshes, multilayer materials and more. If they are not what you are looking for, what else exactly would you like to see in the next build that is not included in these? One of our highest priorities is to make it easier for developers to just pick up the engine and teach themselves from what is available.

Thank you,

Alexander

Iv looked at the realistic render sample, but not tried the demolets yet, is that on the dropbox? as currently my FTP doesn’t show the dropbox when i login, just the optional install and my rocket exe file. Ill take you word for it that it includes alot of things, as i can’t currently seem to download it could we get it included in the next build? i’m still getting to grips with uassets so i keep accidentally deleting my content between builds and have to spend ages getting content back in again.

Hi Marc,

The projects are not located in the default editor, but can be downloaded from the same location as the Rocket Beta Download you received. Please refer to that page for more details as well. I hope that this has helped.

Please let us know if there is anything else you want to see in the editor.

Thanks,
Alexander

iv tried several times to login to the FTP, but still can only see optionalinstalls and rocketsetup_versionnumberhere.msi am i completely missing something here or has rocket just gone to mars without me?

The sample projects are inside OptionalInstalls folder.
