Foliage disappears when reducing landscape quads

Hello people,

I’m working on a project where we are using landscapes. The guys created them before I arrived on the project. (On 4.14)

They setted 127*127 quads (so the automatic mode of the landscape tool in nearly not used) and they load 4 landscapes via streaming at the same time.

So I’d like to reduce landscapes to 63*63 quads to try get some performances a bit.

The problem is, when I directly smcha’ge the number of quads of the landscape to 63*63 quads, the foliage that is painted on it disappears ! Which is bad 'cause I wanted it to stay.

So, is there a solution I can reduce the number of quads of my landscapes while keeping my foliages meshes ?

Thanks

Foliage using vertex paint for Instance mesh generation, so when You’re changing vertex count on the ground it affects vertex numbering and that flushes all the foliage. (not true for Landscape)

Do you know a way to get around that ?

I’ve tested it right now and seems Landscape placed foliage doesn’t disappear.

But resampling removes landscape and makes new one.

Please make sure foliage is saved and can be accessed. Also look in log after resampling.

Hmm. I’ve spent some time to figure the issue You have. Still nothing.
Looks like Once Foliage been added it’s not being removed even if landscape is removed.

Yeah I saw that one reference of old landscape version are still existing in the scenewhen changing the settings of it.

Actually, I appears that “Resampling” is the only option that doesn’t delete the foliage painted on the landscape

So. It’s working? Congrat’s then! Duh, I’ve started to worry. Spent few hours trying to reproduce this issue.
