UI Refraction

I am trying to create a material for use in an Image component of a Widget Blueprint that uses refraction and can distort the Image underneath. I can see that when I change a material to the User Interface domain, it shows Refraction Mode and Index of Refraction in the material properties, but there is no input for normals in the material. How is Refraction used in UI materials?

To create the distortion effect you need you will need to add a Retainer Box as the Parent of your Widget. Retainer Boxes allow effects to be overlaid on top of other Widgets. You will also need to construct an entirely new material for this. Once your distortion material is created apply it to the Effect Material option in the Details Panel of the Retainer Box.
