Does Scaleform have a plugin that easily integrates to 4.2?

Greetings,

We know that UE4 does not include Scaleform out of the box, just like in the past with UE3. I’m wondering if integration with Scaleform requires source access? Or do they simply provide a plugin that I can paste into the Plugins folder and enable it in the editor? We’d like to avoid working with the source code (the reason behind asking this question before approaching Autodesk)

Thanks.

Please read my question again. I know about that link.

I really doubt it would work as a plugin, since every UE4 licensee can add C++ code to the engine. I’m also not sure a plugin would provide the access Scaleform needs. At the very least I imagine it requires a code project. You’d need to ask them.

I kind of agree, yet I don’t want to make assumptions. I figured Epic staff should know whether or not a plugin setup would be doable or not. I actually tried to register with scaleform, but it took me now a couple of days and they did not get back to me. Hopefully someone from epic can help with this.

I just posted that link because

Unlike UE3, the Scaleform SDK does not
come pre-bundled with UE4 and is
provided by Autodesk, not Epic

Seems like you’re addressing the question to the wrong people? The page I linked to has links to forums, documentation etc thats for Scaleform, not UE4, as well as a way to register for evaluation…?

Well, if it turns out that no one at Epic has the time to answer questions about someone else’s software, I’d recommend searching Scaleform forums for this question, and if you don’t find an answer, register for evaluation and find out by trying it.

Hi Hamad.Empire,

To answer your question of whether you can drag and drop a folder into the Plugin section of the engine folder and it function. Yes this is possible. This has been done by one user on the forums with their Razor Hydra controller plugin.

However, this is solely up to the plugin creator to handle, or if you have source you can look at documentation provided from Scaleform and on our documentation for plugins to implement that yourself. If you need access to Scaleform you will need to use C++ to compile the code.

I hope this provides some clarity.

Thank you!

Tim

Yes, this means that Scaleform does not ship with UE4. I need to license it, which is fine. I want to only know whether or not it can come in the form of a plugin that easily integrates to the engine.

Epic works closely with their partners, including Autodesk, so I’m pretty sure they do know something about it. If you are not an employee of Epic Games, I think it would be wise to not speak in their name.

Hi Hamad.Empire,

This is a community driven community. Not everything that is posted here will always be answered by Epic or its staff. I’ve posted the answer above. I am going to close this thread at this point.
