Destructible Mesh "Fracture Mesh" freezing UE4

Hi all,

I am not able to create destructble mesh, when pressing “Fracture Mesh” UE4 freezes.

Any ideas how to resolve this issue or how to work around it?

Try to start from simple geometry. Make sure it’s not the mesh is the issue.

It does work with simple meshes like a cube or cone but I need more complex meshes like a Tank, Ship or Airplane for the project i am working on. I have googled this issue and it seems that i am not the only one reporting Freeze when activating Fracture Mesh.

Fracturing complex meshes can take some time and it can exponentially increase if the Cell Site Count is higher. You say the editor freezes, so I’m assuming that it doesn’t completely crash. Even on high end systems, some really complex meshes can take quite a while (30 seconds to several minutes) to run the fracture process.

If it is indefinitely hanging or crashing, feel free to upload a test asset here and I will see if I get the same results on my end.
