Unreal Engine Launcher will not launch/show

I was recently trying to get the Unreal Engine to install but couldn’t even open the launcher. I have now determined what the cause of the problem is. I have a DisplayLink USB monitor, and the drivers for this monitor cause issues with UE4.

I am unsure as to what the issues are, but I am following a thread on the DisplayLink forums: Latest DisplayLink drivers and DirectX fullscreen errors - Page 6 - DisplayLink Forum

If anybody has any advice as to how to make UE4 work with my DisplayLink monitor’s drivers still installed, please let me know. I understand this is mainly DisplayLink’s fault, however I decided to post this here incase anybody else is having similar issues.

I would attach my UE4 log file but it is completely useless (it literally freezes the log file halfway through a line of output thats complaining about a missing file, that clearly hasn’t downloaded yet because the launcher hasn’t run for the first time)

Hello,

Thank you for your report. We were not able to investigate this on the engine version you reported, but there have been many version changes to UE4 since this question was first posted. With a new version of the Engine comes new fixes and it is possible that this issue has changed or may no longer occur. Due to timetable of when this issue was first posted, we are marking this post as resolved for tracking purposes.

If you are still experiencing the issue you reported in the current engine version, then please respond to this message with additional information and we will investigate as soon as possible. If you are experiencing a similar, but different issue at this time, please submit a new report for it.

Thank you.
