Decal disappears forever after Fade Duration in PIE

  1. Create new map
  2. Create a box and a Deferred Decal projects it on.
  3. Set “Fade Screen Size” - 0.2, “Fade Start Delay” - 2.0, “Fade Duration” - 3.0
  4. Run in editor
  5. Decal disappears forever after Fade Duration no matter how near you are.

I have reproduced it in both forward rendering w and w/o.

The Fade Start and Fade Duration aren’t meant to be used in this manner. It is by design that they are independent from fade screen size.

Those two settings are for temporary decals that are meant to be removed after a duration. For example a blood stain or a puddle that evaporates. Leave those values at zero if you don’t want the decal actor to disappear.

TL;DR The behavior you are describing is expected.
