Can't get landscape material height blending to work

Hi everyone,

I was following [this][1] tutorial on youtube about blending layers on a landscape material, to give it that great effect where a material fill the gaps on the others (like sand through cracks on the rock).
Now, it has been two days of focused trial and error to reach that result, searching for tutorials and documentations and simply trying to make it work. Trouble is, no matter what I do, the height blending between layers is not happening. Even the official documentation is not helping, since from what they say, all you need is an heightmap to achieve this:

Well, not for me. I tried everything possible, nothing, not the slightest variation on the surface covered by the material.

Could please someone explain me how are you supposed to achieve that result?

This is currently my (last of many) material:

Thanks in advance, and if you need screenshots or details let me know!

Bump!

Hey man i got the same problem as you, been looking around for a day now. And i cant find any other tutorial showing how to do this.

I got the heightmap in the greenchannel of a 16 bit jpg. Also tried to have it alone with different file formats. Anyone know what to do ? :frowning:

Hello there!
I got the same Problem, based on the same Tutorial and opened a Thrad in the German Section but they could’nt help me.
What I find out by myself is, if you have your Material set up like in the Tutorial, you can first paint with full strenght your base Material on the Landscape.
Then paint with your second Material over the first.
If you now set down your paint strength from the second Material und erase it with shift, just by clicking over the area, you get a result wich is more or less aceptable.
It’s not de same but with this technique you get something comperable.
I really wonder there is no Solution for this, cause i saw a lot of comments in the Tutorial from other Users with the same Problem.

Hope I could help you anyway.
Sorry if my Englisch is’nt the best
