Search help

  • Simple searches use one or more words. Separate the words with spaces (cat dog) to search cat,dog or both. Separate the words with plus signs (cat +dog) to search for items that may contain cat but must contain dog.
  • You can further refine your search on the search results page, where you can search by keywords, author, topic. These can be combined with each other. Examples
    • cat dog --matches anything with cat,dog or both
    • cat +dog --searches for cat +dog where dog is a mandatory term
    • cat -dog -- searches for cat excluding any result containing dog
    • [cats] —will restrict your search to results with topic named "cats"
    • [cats] [dogs] —will restrict your search to results with both topics, "cats", and "dogs"

Event bindings not returned in search results

Finding references on a function which is used as a binding is not found by Editor 'find references' tool.

Build Type: Source

Build version: 4.14.3-0+++UE4+Release-4.14

Detailed description of the issue:

I was tracking down a Blueprint function reference in another part of our project.

I could breakpoint on the method, but could not step over without the game resuming. Adding a 'stack trace' node also did not show where it was called from.

I discovered the function was used on an event binding.

The bug is that searching for this function (even after re-indexing) returned no results. The function can be renamed, set to private and the Blueprints would still compile.

Product Version: UE 4.14

Hello RHoath,

I am having som trouble reproducing your issue on our end, I have a couple questions that will help me narrow down your issue.

  1. Can you reproduce this issue in a clean project?

  2. If so Could you provide a detailed list of steps so I can reproduce this issue on our end?

  3. Could you provide screenshots of your Blueprints and other related components?
