Auto Subscription when posting your first bug report

if you send your first bug report it seems to check in “notify me instantly when: a question in my area of expertise is posted” without telling you it does. Woke up with a bunch of answerhub notifications. Who came up with that nonsense?

To my understanding it has always been a default behavior of the site to send notifications for posts in a user’s areas of expertise.

Users won’t receive these however until a certain threshold is met and an expertise topic is added to their account. It is likely you just met that threshold for a particular topic.

You can modify your notification options or your expertise settings under your account settings.

I’m usually not that rude, but you have to understand that this behavior is bs and backfired on me, because it seems that comming from Germany I’m getting this error message when trying to change the settings:

On a side note, I wrote the whole story to your Support, a guy named “Dodgkins” didn’t even read my case, just saw you replied here to something and didn’t bother that I’m pretty much f<3ked, because I can’t change the settings easily. Can copy paste the whole thing again or you tell your support to actually do their work :3 Again, I don’t want to be rude, but you make yourself look stupid right now. What should I tell others from my country now? “Sure, continue bug reports in your engine when it crashes, but never post a bug on answerhub, because there is a chance you get above a threshold, then you get spammed, and then there is a chance that you receive above error and can’t change your settings”. Now tell me what to do, I would like to stay on my old account, because I bought stuff :3

It is a separate issue from the one you posted, and it has nothing to do with user country. It is simply a bug affecting some users in the database. I will reach out to our web vendor and ask them to fix your account.
