Sockets and inheritance

Hi i’m trying to add a turret static mesh that i have here, to a socket i created in the tank static mesh, but i can’t do it for some reason. It says as in the image, and i can’t attach my turret static mesh to the socket.
I’m new to unreal and I am still learning, so i have no idea how to solve it.

use skeletal meshes instead of static meshes. you can also try to drag the turret component ontop of the tank component in the top left
