Viewport (Widget) Toolbar Missing

Hello,

I’m not really sure how it happened, but I was clicking in the viewport when it disappeared. After looking through every menu item, I searched within the Editor Preferences and found the Ctrl+Shift+T shortcut to Hide/Show the toolbar. Unfortunately, it doesn’t work in this window for me. It does in all other viewports. Something I did notice that only half of the tooblar is missing. When using the shortcut in other windows, it hides the complete top panel…including the “Perspective, Lit, and Show” items. As you can see in the photo, I still have that part. I’ve tried resetting the layout (which required a restart) and still nothing.

I’ve tried going through each menu item, closing each window and trying the shortcut, searching within the preferences for a checkbox, but I haven’t found anything yet. It may be a simple oversight on my part.

I think at this point I’m more curious about HOW I did it lol. It is a pretty valuable asset and I’d like to get it back (if I can).

Any suggestions on what else to try?

Thanks!

Edit:
Additional Note: This is only in the Mesh Editor window. It doesn’t matter which mesh I double click on. Therefore, I think it just deals with something local in this tab.

The mesh editor doesn’t have those controls, what you are seeing is normal:

hi

not sure if you have found your answer but just had the same issue, i found the toolbar again by looking at the top of the window menu, drop down menu will show ‘details’ 1,2,3 & 4. select which ones you want…bingo!

good luck, hope this helps! painful when you don’t know, we will get there!!!

Thank you Black Phoenyx,

I think I know what happened. Your reply had me thinking I was going crazy for a second. I knew I had seen that widget bar lol. Upon seeing yours, I went back in and added a sphere collision. The widget still didn’t show up. So, I thought, well let me try to hit the W key for transforming…guess what? It came back up. I knew it was there before because I was going for my camera speed when it disappeared. I think what happened was that I clicked the mouse before I got to it and it deselected the item I was working on making the widget bar disappear.

Thank you very much for your time on it. It was the only thing I hadn’t tried until you said something about it being normal lol. It is very normal until you have something selected to modify.

Hi LadyJane40,

The widget I was looking for was in the Viewport itself inside of the Mesh Editor. The Details menu item you are talking about is in the Main Project Editor. I did find it though (see my reply to Black Phoenyx). It was something that I didn’t realize appeared and disappeared on item selection/de-selection.

Thanks.
