Should I import a landscape or make it in Unreal?

I am having trouble modeling a landscape in unreal. I am pretty new to unreal and normally work in blender. I have a deadline on which i have to have the landscape finished by.

Would it work just to make a landscape in blender and import it into unreal?

Hi CubesAndCosmos,

UE4 has some awesome landscape tools, so if you have time to learn them they’ll definitely help produce a better result and probably will be faster in the long run.

However, if you’re really on a time crunch, you can also model the landscape mesh in Blender and import that as a static mesh. Just make sure to select per-poly collision in the static mesh, which will cause each face of the landscape to have collision (otherwise you’ll fall right through). You can also apply foliage to static meshes, just check the foliage tab settings and it should give you options on which types of meshes to apply the foliage to.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the quick answer! I will keep that in mind. It’s good to know i can use blender if this won’t work. For now I am trying to keep at it with the unreal modeling.
