Search help

  • Simple searches use one or more words. Separate the words with spaces (cat dog) to search cat,dog or both. Separate the words with plus signs (cat +dog) to search for items that may contain cat but must contain dog.
  • You can further refine your search on the search results page, where you can search by keywords, author, topic. These can be combined with each other. Examples
    • cat dog --matches anything with cat,dog or both
    • cat +dog --searches for cat +dog where dog is a mandatory term
    • cat -dog -- searches for cat excluding any result containing dog
    • [cats] —will restrict your search to results with topic named "cats"
    • [cats] [dogs] —will restrict your search to results with both topics, "cats", and "dogs"

Feature request: Landscape painting tools

After doing a fair amount of landscape editing of a contemporary environment there some tools I would have found very helpful, if you'd find these helpful as well please reply.

  1. A straight line tool, when drawing road and trackways or going down the edge of tiles a straight line tool (even something like PS) would be useful.

  2. Again with roads and lines, being able to attach a repeating decal to a spline so we can have meshes and draw straight onto the landscape topology.

  3. Some more in depth documentation on the layer system and especially on workflows importing and exporting layers. I'll add my experiences but to be honest I couldn't get them to behave exactly as I wanted them to.

  4. Landscape materials don't give a true indication of texture samplers. I understand that you can pick and choose per landscape tile but it would be useful when authoring the material to get a total count (compared with making the same material without the landscape specific nodes).

Hi Noisy Guy,

Something like this would be better posted on the Unreal Engine 4 Forums in the "Feedback for Epic" section. This area gets reviewed daily and is less likely to get buried like it would here on the AnswerHub. With suggestions like this we can access them much more easily and see if other users are having similar issues with documentation or features users feel are missing or need to be tweaked.

Thank you!
