Stereo Panoramic movie export, media texture displaying random frames

I have a simple scene with some TV screens playing a video via a media texture. This all works fine. However today I went to render out a stereo panorama video and the video playback on the TV screens is not advancing one frame per rendered frame; it appears to be continuing playback in the background, and then grabbing whichever frame happens to be on the screen when it’s ready to do the next render.

Is there a way to make the video step thru one frame at a time? Thanks.
