Hello, I have excited to try out exporting my c4d animated geometry into unreal and the alembic system seems to be what I am looking for. When I try to bring over my cached animations it causes unreal to crash more often then it goes through. I have had some luck with some files (some very simple as well as more complicated bigger files). However I have used the same animation process on other cached animations and it causes it to crash.
I am not sure why some work and others dont. I have experimented with export settings, using only triangulated geometry as opposed to n-gons. I can’t figure out the logic for whats causing the crashes. This happens when I use both skeletal and geometry cache.
Has anyone else had this issue or would know whats causing these erratic crashes.
I apologize for the wait, it seems your assets are crashing because you are trying to import too much at one time. The two bugged assets are significantly larger in size as well. I was able to import both of your bugged assets after reducing the poly count. There is definitely some optimization that can be done, but if you want to keep the geometry I would recommend splitting up the assets into more files.
