How to make a Static Mesh ready for Materials

Hello,

I’m having some trouble putting material on a static mesh I created out of additive and subtractive geometry. I should preface this by saying I’m very new to Unreal, so thank you in advance for helping me with this.

As you can see in the attached picture, when I place a material that has any sort of pattern attached to it, the pattern is stretched or compressed in non-uniform ways. What is the easiest way to fix something like this, and how can I avoid issues like this in the future?

Your static mesh should be produced in a 3D editing software such as Maya, Blender or 3DS Max. Then learn how to unwrap your UV’s correctly so this issue doesn’t happen. It’s a fairly large topic I’m afraid, something to learn.

Additive and Subtractive geometry in UE4 is meat to block out levels and for play testing before the proper assets are produced and brought in.
