Editor crash on adding Mesh to Procedural Foliage Type

UE4 crashes when trying to add a Mesh (in my case a Tree) to the Foliage Type, to be used with the Procedural Foliage Generator. The crash screen contains no errors at all.

For your crash window to list the details about a crash, please open the Launcher to the Library tab and click the dropdown arrow next to the engine version then select Options. In here, enable the “Editor symbols for debugging” checkbox. About the crash itself, I created a Foliage Type asset and was able to set the Mesh field without a crash. Can you try setting the “1M_Cube” mesh and let me know if that causes a crash as well? If this does crash, please provide the cull callstack from the crash as well as the project’s log file. If the crash doesn’t occur when setting 1M_Cube, the issue may be with the tree mesh that you’re using.

Sorry to bring up an old thread. I am having the same issue and pulled this up on a search. Adding the cubes and other items work fine, its just adding trees from the Kite free pack that is causing the problem. Im not sure if there is a way around this

I am currently having this same issue. I have created a procedural foliage spawner and a foliage type. When assigning a mesh to the foliage type, the editor crashes while loading package /Game/KiteDemo/Environments/Trees/HillTree_02/HillTree_02, 86%. From the Open World Demo package on the marketplace.

The secondary progress bar indicates Finalizing Load of BodySetup_7.
This is where it hangs. I’m not sure where to download crash logs from. It doesn’t really crash, just hangs forever.

The Tall Scots Pine from the same package worked. Still seemed like it hung for a minute, but recovered.

Yes, same here. It took 5 to 10 minutes to load the trees from Kitedemo inside the foliage tool. I wonder why. But after this duration, it works.

I’m having this issue as well,. here is a screenshot of what ahppens, tried with the pines and the hill trees included in the package and my ocmputer sits like this and i have to close it with the task manager. help please
