Generate xcode project is grayed out?

Hi, so I have just installed the unreal engine I am a complete newbie to unreal and I’m having an extremely annoying issue where my generate Xcode project menu option is grayed out and is unclickable I have tried uninstalling the unreal engine and reinstalling, I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Xcode as well nothing I seem to read on the Internet has been able to fix my issue. I am on a unreal engine 4.14 and I would upgrade to 4.15 but my Mac is one year too old and cannot run METAL apparently. Has anyone else ran into this problem and found a fix? Thanks

I have just added a C++ class in a separate folder, which than created a project for me. I am running on version 4.15.1
