Anyone happen the same ?
Iphone 5 is not good enough to open a game ?

It seems New Special Effect “Background Blur” from Widget is NOT working in iOS .
I think is may be an issue

Hello ,

I ran a couple of tests on our end and I have not been able to reproduce this issue on our end. I have a few questions for you that will help narrow down what issue it is that you are experiencing.

Quick questions:

  1. Can you reproduce this issue in a clean project?
  2. If so, could you provide a detailed list of steps to reproduce this issue on our end?
  3. Could you elaborate further on what issue it is exactly that you are having?
  4. Could you provide screen shots of any settings/blueprints/widgets that may be involved with this issue?
  1. I Choose New project ,New C++ or New Blueprint .
  2. Add a button to a new Widget (a test widget)
  3. In that widget, i add a “Scale Box”->“Canvas Panel”->“Background Blur”
  4. I set Background Blur to 5 .
  5. Then i package for iOS .
  6. When i open the game in iphone , map load perfectly, but when you press the button for “testwidget” ,the game is close, not crash, because i try to read any crash logs, and is nothing .

I followed the steps provided above, however I was not able to reproduce the crash that you are seeing on your end. Could you provide a zipped down copy of a project that reproduce this issue so that I could take a closer look?

I ran a few tests with the project provided. However, the app appears to be working as intended. I tested this on an iPhone 5 to make sure that my test case matched yours as close as possible. I didn’t make any changes to the project provided. Could you try downloading the version of the project provided a let me know if it still crashes/closes on your end and/or if there are any additional steps I need to take with the project to get the same result?

I will recreate again to see if i still have problems, any way i have too many problems with iOS package for distribution also .

  • If i dont choose with blured background, i have a developed game, wich works fine in developement build , i package for shipping, i upload to itunes, download with testflight , open the splash screen, then close .
  • I use Xcode 8.2.1 , should be that a problem ?
  • In my Iphone i have a lot of games, and i dont have problems to crash any game, should try to upgrade or downgrade the Xcode ?

I can add you to External Testflight , and see if you can open the game .

I noticed that you said you were going to try and recreate this issue in a clean project. I wanted to check in and see if you have made any progress towards this goal?

I try again in this project and failed , the game crash when open a Background Blur

When you say “I try again in this project and failed”, are you saying that you tried it again in the original project or a clean project?

In a clean project , with 4.15 version.

If you check one or the other does the project work as expected or are you still seeing the crash with the back ground blur?

It’s still crash with Backgroun Blur,

  • C++ - Crash
  • Blueprint - Crash
  • Blueprint Clean Project - Crash
  • 4.15.1 V.
  • Xcode 8.2.1
  • Build by Remote Controller

I spend 3 months to learn UE4 and build my first game and i can’t ship to iTunes :frowning:

I have run more tests on our end. However, I cannot reproduce this crash.

If you package for shipping and then try to install it directly on to the phone (without uploading to itunes and using testflight) does this crash still occur?

Yes is crashing.

  • What phone do you use ?
  • I have ****, NOT c or s

After further testing I was able to reproduce this issue on our end. I have written up a report and I have submitted it to the developers for further consideration. I have provided a link to the public. Feel free to use the link provided for future updates.
