Physical Animation Profile Bug

When setting up a physical animation profile using the default 3rd person animation project, I discovered a bug that requires restarting the editor to fix.

Repro Steps:

  1. Open the PhAT window for the 3rd-person character skeleton.

  2. Create a Physical Animation Profile and select it under Profile

  3. Add all the bones to the profile

  4. select all the bones in the skeleton tree

  5. click on “selected” in the PhAT tool

  6. Click on “simulate” in the PhAT tool

  7. Go to main Editor window and hit “Play”

  8. Character goes into ragdoll and falls through floor

I believe the bug occurs even if the pelvis isn’t selected, but I will verify and submit a new video.

I believe the problem exists, even if the pelvis is not included in the profile. I will verify and submit a new video.

Hi EightyGee,

What you are seeing isn’t by design but it’s also not the expected usage of Physical Animations. Instead of adding all bones make sure you don’t include the pelvis. You can see the proper way to set this up in our Physical Animations Live Training video and Ian explains why not including the pelvis is required.

Cheers,

TJ

Sounds good. I’m going to resolve the post for tracking purposes in the meantime but when you have more info just post back here to reopen it.

Thanks.
